Hydroponic Prototype

The small-scale prototype where Ethio-Leap began testing controlled hydroponic vegetable production.

PROJECT OVERVIEWStarting small to prove the technology.

Ethio-Leap’s first hydroponic prototype was developed at approximately 30 m² scale as an early proof of concept. The objective was to move beyond theoretical system design and begin learning through actual crop production, water management and day-to-day operation.

The prototype provided an initial platform for developing practical experience with hydroponic production and formed the starting point for the larger systems that followed.

WHAT WE DELIVEREDBuilding the first working system.

SMALL-SCALE HYDROPONIC SYSTEM
A practical controlled growing system developed to test hydroponic production.

GROWING INFRASTRUCTURE
The physical growing environment required to move from concept into operation.

WATER & NUTRIENT MANAGEMENT
Practical management of the water and nutrient conditions required for crop production.

OPERATIONAL LEARNING
Hands-on operation created experience that informed subsequent systems.

RESULTS & IMPACT

The foundation for what came next.

Hands-on production established the foundation for larger systems.

PROOF OF CONCEPT

TECHNICAL LEARNING

The system generated hands-on experience in crop and system management.

DESIGN DEVELOPMENT

Lessons from operation informed subsequent Ethio-Leap installations.
